Nutrition Coaching is all about meeting you where you are, creating a game plan and helping you implement that game plan.
Everyone’s starting point and steps in their plan will be different if I were to give blanket one size fits all guidelines and plans to everyone my success rate wouldn’t be nearly as high. Just like Chris makes sure everyone’s program is tailored specifically for them, the same will hold true with Nutrition Coaching with me
Hey! I’m Hillary,
Chris and I have been married for almost 4 years now and have been together for 10(!). We have an amazing little boy, Cale, who just turned 3 and are expecting our baby girl, Channing Suzanne, in March of 2018. When I was a freshman in high school I was diagnosed with Celiac which means I can not have gluten (wheat, barley, rye). Needless to say, it was a complete 180 when I found out and I had to completely overhaul my diet. Seeing how manipulating what I ate affected the way I felt (and how I grew) was fascinating. Going through that is what piqued my interest in nutrition.
I recently graduated with my B.Sc in Dietetics from NSU – dietetics is just a fancy way of saying that I’m a nutritionist. 🙂 You know that you need to eat right. You know what foods are “healthy” for the most part. But, that doesn’t change the fact that changing your eating habits is hard. Like very hard. My goal is to help you transition to eating healthier at a pace you’re comfortable with and to make sure we move one step at a time.
Most try to go from scoring a 3 on nutrition habits for most of their lives to a 10 within a matter of days. The real world doesn’t work like that, and you shouldn’t expect it to. I know I sure don’t expect you to break a lifetime of habits in a week!
Chris will agree with me in that if you were going to pick either fitness or nutrition as a place to start rather than trying to tackle both that nutrition would win the battle every time. Depending on what you read and who you talk to its widely accepted that nutrition is 70-80% of the battle with fitness taking up the remainder. It sounds crazy on the surface, but this graphic below sums up what it can be like when you’re trying to out work a bad diet (hint: you can’t).
I don’t have anything against donuts at all, in fact I choke down chalky gluten free donuts more often than I should. The point of showing you that is because it is a crazy visual of what it would take to work off a SINGLE donut. Think about this – if you were 1000 calories over on the day can you imagine trying to find the 100 extra minutes of exercise needed to break even? I can’t. I wish I had an extra 100 minutes every day, but even if I did it is safe to say I wouldn’t want to spend it all on exercise because I couldn’t control my fork.
I understand where you’re at and I also understand where you want to go. I don’t expect perfection because I wouldn’t want anyone to expect perfection from me. I’m all about little wins when you’re on this journey. You may be thinking to yourself, “what is a little win?”, for example a little win may be eating one piece of pizza when you could have (and would normally) have eaten 3-4. I know you’ve been begging to ask anyway, so yes, you can have pizza. I won’t banish it from your life forever, promise.
Progress > Perfection. Every. Single. Time.
Here are the options I currently offer to help you drop pesky body fat, build long lasting habits and the confidence you need to make good food choices:
Monthly Nutrition Coaching
There’s so much more to nutrition than just knowing what to eat and when to eat it. If it were that simple we’d all be in peak shape. We will take a look at where you are currently and where you want to go. Identifying trigger foods, habits (both good and bad) and addressing the “why” behind your decisions will play a major role in the process. I know that goals are fluid, they change. That’s completely fine. It’s important to realize since each program is completely tailored to you we are able to adjust on the fly and make sure the plan keeps you on track.

InBody Body Fat and Body Composition Testing
The InBody 570 goes beyond traditional body composition analysis measuring fat, muscle and total body water. Total body water data can be divided into intracellular water and extracellular water, values important for understand a user’s fluid distribution in medical, wellness and fitness contexts.

The impedance the currents encounter are measured in order to derive body composition. InBody’s patented BIA technology provides accurate and consistent outputs that are highly correlated with gold standard methods (98% accurate when compared to DEXA scan results.
